Meet Iyanifa Fatumininu
Preistess
Iya Fatumininu Oyaolonade Adebiyi Osunbunmi or Iya Fatu as we affectionately refer to her as, is an Iyanifa (Ifa priestess), Oya priestess and an Osun priestess. Iya started her journey to priesthood when she was just 24 years old. She came to the tradition through the support of her long time friend who was a priestess herself and truly inspired her to take the steps it took to become a priestess herself. Through divination, she found that she had chosen this lifestyle and tradition from heaven and that her steps would be blessed if she did what was expected of her. Like any young person thinking they know everything, she made many stops along the way.
Iya finally took the leap into priesthood in 2010. Her first initiation was to Orisa Oya in Tajuca Rio De Jeniero Brazil. Not long after her first initiation, she traveled to Nigeria and underwent her initiation to Ifa and knew that this was the life that Olodumare set for her to live and committed fully to the practice. She began her training and lived in Nigeria for some time where she learned from her many teachers, Babalawos, Iyanifas and Olorisas. With the guidance of her trusted teachers she learned the ways of the Yorubas and began her practice. A few years after she started her practice, she finally initiated to Orisa Osun in Osogbo Nigeria. She is goddaughter to Chief Doyin Olosun, the foremost Osun priestess known to the Yoruba people.
With many godchildren and trusted priests/priestesses supporting her, Iya has grown to be one of the most trusted Iyanifa/Olorisa in the US. In 2019, she moved to Tampa Florida leaving behind her work as a City Council Vice President in New Jersey after Ifa advised her that her success would be there. Since that time, she has established herself as a trusted and competent priestess helping clients and her many godchildren with all of their spiritual needs.
